Key Responsibilities
- Execute precise masonry work, including laying bricks, blocks, and various types of stone for walls, partitions, and other structures.
- Perform expert wall and floor tiling, ensuring accurate layout, cutting, fitting, and grouting for a seamless and durable finish.
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly, including cleaning, levelling, and applying primers or adhesives as required.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
- Mix and apply mortar, plaster, and other compounds consistently and effectively.
- Conduct quality checks on all completed work, ensuring adherence to design specifications and company standards.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for and stored.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies on site.
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers to ensure smooth project progression.
- Identify and resolve issues related to masonry and tiling installations promptly and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mason with a strong focus on wall and tile finishing.
- Expertise in laying various masonry materials (bricks, blocks, stone) and wall/floor tiles (ceramic, porcelain, natural stone).
- Proficiency in cutting and shaping materials with precision using appropriate tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and regulations.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of different types of mortars, adhesives, and grouts and their applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Trowel Occupations, Wall and Floor Tiling, or a related field.
- Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Full UK driving license.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with specialist tiling techniques or bespoke masonry work.
