Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute highly accurate short-to-long-range meteorological forecasts using advanced NWP models, satellite, and radar data.
- Conduct detailed analysis of atmospheric conditions, identifying potential impacts on operational activities, infrastructure, and historical research projects.
- Interpret complex weather data and communicate findings clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders and interdisciplinary teams.
- Lead the development and refinement of specialized forecasting tools and methodologies to meet specific project requirements.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate meteorological data into broader analytical frameworks and decision-support systems.
- Provide expert consultation on weather-related risks, climate variability, and environmental impacts.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in atmospheric science, meteorological technology, and forecasting techniques.
- Contribute to post-event analysis and model validation to continuously improve forecasting accuracy and reliability.
- Participate in strategic planning discussions, offering meteorological insights to inform long-term initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in numerical weather prediction (NWP) model interpretation and application.
- Proficiency in meteorological software and data visualization tools (e.g., WRF, GRIB, GRADS, ArcGIS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex atmospheric data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in real-time forecasting and hindcasting.
- Solid understanding of atmospheric physics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related field.
- Experience with machine learning applications in meteorological forecasting.
