Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking experienced and dedicated Truck Drivers for both long-distance haulage and local delivery routes based out of our West Bridgford, Nottingham depot. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) for both long-distance hauls and local deliveries, adhering to all road safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform diligent pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Accurately load, unload, and secure freight, ensuring goods are protected during transit and delivered without damage.
- Maintain precise logbooks, delivery records, and vehicle inspection reports using digital tachographs and company systems.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, and any issues encountered.
- Handle all delivery documentation, including obtaining proof of delivery (PODs) and ensuring accuracy of manifests.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods while strictly prioritizing safety, fuel efficiency, and adherence to planned routes.
- Adhere to all legal driving hours regulations and company rest period policies.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and pickups, representing Hiring.zycto professionally.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, incidents, or traffic violations immediately to management.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV driving license
- Valid Driver CPC qualification card
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) proven experience as an HGV driver, including both long-distance and local delivery routes
- Excellent knowledge of UK road networks, HGV regulations, and traffic laws
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and responsible driving practices
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading, unloading, and securing various types of freight
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organized with strong time management abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift license (e.g., Counterbalance or Reach Truck) for warehouse operations
- Experience with specialized freight (e.g., refrigerated goods, hazardous materials – ADR certification)
- Advanced defensive driving training or certification
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting on the road
- Previous experience with route optimization software or GPS tracking systems
