Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and energetic Early Morning Produce Clerk to join our dynamic team in Scarborough. This pivotal role ensures our produce department is immaculately stocked, beautifully displayed, and ready to serve our customers from the moment our doors open. As an Early Morning Produce Clerk, you will be the first to handle incoming shipments, meticulously inspecting fresh produce for quality, rotating stock to ensure freshness, and arranging eye-catching displays that invite customers to explore our offerings.
Your day will start bright and early, taking advantage of the quiet hours to efficiently prepare the department. This involves significant physical activity, including lifting, carrying, and stocking various produce items, often in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail is paramount, as you’ll be responsible for accurate pricing, proper signage, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working area in compliance with health and safety regulations. While direct customer interaction may be less frequent during early hours, your work directly impacts their shopping experience, ensuring they find the freshest, most appealing fruits and vegetables. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and organize daily produce deliveries in an efficient and timely manner.
- Inspect produce for quality, freshness, and damage, reporting any discrepancies.
- Stock, rotate, and merchandise fresh produce items, ensuring proper presentation and appeal.
- Maintain clean, sanitized, and organized work areas, including display cases, storage, and equipment.
- Ensure accurate pricing and signage for all produce items.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to prevent stockouts and minimize waste.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards and regulations.
- Assist customers with inquiries and special requests, providing friendly and helpful service.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as scales, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely.
Required Skills
- Ability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of fresh produce identification and handling.
