Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Site Foreman with a strong focus on labour management and health & safety to join our dynamic team in Aspley, Nottingham. As a Site Foreman, you will be the linchpin of our on-site operations, directly responsible for the daily supervision, coordination, and motivation of our labour force, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This pivotal role requires an individual who is not only proficient in construction methodologies but also possesses exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Your expertise will be instrumental in translating project plans into actionable daily tasks, overseeing resource allocation, and maintaining rigorous adherence to all health and safety regulations. You’ll be the first point of contact for the site team, resolving immediate issues, conducting toolbox talks, and fostering a positive, productive, and safety-conscious work environment. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all daily on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, timelines, and budget.
- Directly supervise and coordinate the daily tasks of on-site labour, including skilled trades and general operatives, optimizing productivity and efficiency.
- Implement, monitor, and enforce all company and statutory health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
- Monitor the quality of workmanship and materials, ensuring all work meets the required standards and specifications.
- Liaise effectively with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project progression.
- Manage the allocation and efficient use of plant, equipment, and materials on site.
- Identify and resolve on-site issues and challenges promptly, minimizing delays and disruptions.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, safety logs, and attendance sheets.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Site Foreman or similar supervisory role in the construction industry (minimum 6 years).
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and health & safety regulations (CDM 2015).
- Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of motivating and directing labour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisive judgments under pressure.
- A full UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or 4 in construction site supervision or a related field.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asta Powerproject).
- CSCS Card (Gold/Black).
