Job Description

Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a talented and passionate Full-Time Camera Operator to join our dynamic production team in Hamilton, Ontario. As a key member of our broadcast operations, you will be responsible for operating various types of cameras and associated equipment to capture high-quality video for live television programs, studio productions, and pre-recorded segments. This role demands a keen eye for composition, excellent technical proficiency, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate closely with directors, producers, lighting technicians, and sound engineers to ensure seamless visual execution of our programming. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate professional broadcast cameras (studio pedestal, handheld, jib, EFP) during live and pre-recorded television productions.
  • Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot camera equipment, including lenses, tripods, monitors, and cabling.
  • Collaborate with directors and production crew to achieve desired shots, angles, and camera movements.
  • Adjust focus, aperture, and white balance to ensure optimal image quality in varying lighting conditions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of shot composition, framing, and visual storytelling techniques.
  • Perform routine maintenance and ensure all camera equipment is in excellent working order.
  • Adhere to broadcast standards, safety protocols, and production timelines.
  • Assist with lighting setup and other production duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Camera Operator in a broadcast or live production setting.
  • Proficiency in operating various professional broadcast cameras and related accessories.
  • Strong understanding of video production workflows, signal paths, and broadcast standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of camera mechanics, optics, and video principles (e.g., exposure, depth of field).
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing production demands and troubleshoot technical issues on the fly.
  • Exceptional visual acuity, attention to detail, and a creative eye for composition.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction effectively.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move camera equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Film, Television Production, Broadcast Media, or a related field.
  • Experience with studio automation systems and robotic cameras.
  • Familiarity with graphic integration and virtual set technologies.
