As a Personal Injury Lawyer specializing in litigation, you will be instrumental in all phases of the legal process. This includes conducting thorough legal research, drafting pleadings, preparing for and attending examinations for discovery, participating in mediations and arbitrations, and ultimately representing clients at trial. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a full caseload of personal injury claims, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, long-term disability claims, and other tort actions.
  • Conduct client interviews, gather evidence, and assess case merits.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement briefs.
  • Prepare for and attend examinations for discovery, mediations, arbitrations, and pre-trial conferences.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance adjusters.
  • Represent clients vigorously in court proceedings and at trial.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Provide clear, compassionate, and timely communication with clients regarding their case status.
  • Collaborate effectively with paralegals, legal assistants, and other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards.

Required Skills

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree.
  • Called to the Bar and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Personal Injury Lawyer, specifically in litigation.
  • Proven track record of managing a demanding caseload from intake to resolution.
  • Strong oral advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A client-focused approach with empathy and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex catastrophic injury claims.
  • Previous experience participating in or leading trials.
  • Familiarity with medico-legal reports and expert witness testimony.
  • Advanced proficiency in legal technology and e-discovery platforms.
