Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a talented and imaginative Interior Designer with a specialisation in Space & Aesthetic Planning to join our vibrant team in Cardiff. This pivotal role involves leading projects from initial concept through to successful completion, ensuring that every design not only meets but exceeds client expectations for both functionality and aesthetic appeal. You will be instrumental in creating environments that tell a story, evoke emotion, and provide seamless user experiences across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and hospitality projects.

As an Interior Designer focusing on Space & Aesthetic Planning, you will leverage your expertise in spatial optimisation, material selection, colour theory, and furniture placement to craft truly unique and personalised spaces. Your day-to-day will involve interpreting client briefs, developing innovative design concepts, producing detailed technical drawings, and collaborating closely with architects, contractors, and suppliers. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design projects from concept development to final installation, ensuring adherence to client vision, budget, and timeline.
  • Develop detailed spatial plans, layouts, and elevations that optimise functionality, flow, and aesthetic appeal.
  • Select and specify furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), finishes, and materials, ensuring they align with design intent and budget.
  • Create high-quality presentations, including mood boards, 3D renderings, and technical drawings (CAD, Revit) for client review.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, architects, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and construction administration to monitor progress and ensure design integrity.
  • Manage project documentation, schedules, and budgets, proactively addressing any potential issues.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new materials, and design innovations to continuously enhance design offerings.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, health and safety regulations, and accessibility standards.
  • Present design concepts and proposals to clients with confidence and clarity.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar design software
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in space planning and aesthetic design
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and visual)
  • Deep understanding of materials, finishes, lighting, and FF&E specifications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Proven experience in client relationship management and brief interpretation
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and sustainable design practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field
  • NCIDQ certification or equivalent professional accreditation
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello)
  • Familiarity with Welsh design market and local suppliers
  • Experience in both residential and commercial interior design projects
