Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine mowing, edging, trimming, and weeding of lawns, flowerbeds, and other landscaped areas to maintain a neat and appealing appearance.
  • Undertake the planting, pruning, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and flowers, ensuring healthy growth and optimal aesthetic impact.
  • Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, making minor repairs and adjustments as necessary to ensure efficient water usage and plant health.
  • Keep all park and facility areas clean and free of litter, debris, and fallen leaves, contributing to a welcoming and safe environment.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on outdoor furniture, fences, pathways, and other facility structures, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Operate and maintain a range of groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Implement pest and disease control measures for plants and turf, using environmentally responsible methods where possible.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as planting new seasonal displays, preparing grounds for events, and winterisation procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the public.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Groundskeeper, Gardener, or in a similar outdoor maintenance role, demonstrating a solid understanding of grounds care practices.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of horticultural principles, including plant care, soil management, and pest identification.
  • Competence in operating and performing basic maintenance on a variety of groundskeeping machinery and tools.
  • Excellent physical stamina and the ability to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanliness.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing time efficiently to complete tasks.
  • Good communication skills to interact respectfully with colleagues and members of the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A formal qualification in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds).
  • Certification in the safe application of pesticides (e.g., PA1/PA6).
  • Possession of a full, clean UK driving license.
  • Experience with specialist equipment such as ride-on mowers, chainsaws, or compact tractors.
  • Basic first aid certification.
