Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, and troubleshoot VoIP systems, including IP PBXs, SIP trunks, gateways, and endpoints.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and resolution of complex VoIP network and protocol issues (SIP, RTP, QoS).
  • Manage and maintain existing VoIP infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
  • Provide expert-level technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams for all VoIP-related inquiries.
  • Conduct system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning for VoIP solutions.
  • Develop and document best practices, procedures, and technical configurations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical incident response as required.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of VoIP services with existing infrastructure.
  • Stay current with emerging VoIP technologies, trends, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience as a VoIP Technician or Specialist.
  • In-depth knowledge of SIP, RTP, SRTP, and other VoIP protocols.
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting IP PBX systems (e.g., Asterisk, FreePBX, Cisco Call Manager, Avaya, Microsoft Teams Phone System).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP) and network infrastructure concepts (VLANs, QoS).
  • Experience with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, SIP trace).
  • Familiarity with various VoIP codecs (G.711, G.729).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA Collaboration, CompTIA Network+, specific vendor certifications).
  • Experience with cloud-based VoIP platforms and Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Prior experience in a managed service provider (MSP) environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
