Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking an exceptionally talented and highly motivated Financial Controller to join our executive leadership team in Kildonan, Winnipeg. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Manage and oversee the company's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
  • Provide financial analyses and reports as needed, including budget vs. actuals, variance analysis, and operational performance metrics.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, ensuring efficient and effective audit processes.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance and provide recommendations for resolution.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation (or equivalent recognized accounting designation)
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting management position
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS principles
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing across all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Finance
  • Experience in the financial services or consulting industry
  • Experience with process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools and data visualization platforms
