Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Structural Engineer – Professional to join our dynamic team in Toronto, Ontario. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be instrumental in delivering cutting-edge structural solutions for a diverse portfolio including high-rise residential buildings, commercial complexes, institutional facilities, and public infrastructure projects.

You will leverage your extensive experience and professional engineering expertise to conduct comprehensive structural analysis, design, and calculations using advanced software and engineering principles. A key aspect of this role involves ensuring all designs strictly adhere to relevant Canadian building codes, including the Ontario Building Code, national standards, and client specifications, while optimizing for safety, constructability, and cost-efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural analysis and design for a variety of building types and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, calculations, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Oversee and review work performed by junior engineers and technical staff, providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Collaborate effectively with architects, clients, contractors, and other consultants throughout project lifecycles.
  • Conduct site visits, assessments, and inspections to evaluate existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
  • Manage project scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
  • Develop innovative and cost-effective structural solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Participate in business development activities and client relationship management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural System, STAAD.Pro).
  • Expert knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards, including the Ontario Building Code and NBCC.
  • Extensive experience with various building materials (concrete, steel, timber, masonry).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and technical reporting.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineering staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit Structure).
  • LEED Green Associate or Professional accreditation.
  • Experience with post-tensioned concrete design.
  • Familiarity with seismic design principles and applications in high-rise structures.
