Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive educational programs and in-services for nursing staff, covering clinical procedures, new technologies, and evidence-based practices.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify knowledge and skill gaps among nursing personnel and tailor educational interventions accordingly.
- Provide direct clinical instruction, mentorship, and coaching to nurses at all levels of experience, from new graduates to seasoned professionals.
- Facilitate orientation programs for new nursing hires, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the clinical environment.
- Design and utilize various teaching methodologies, including lectures, workshops, simulation, and online modules, to enhance learning retention.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to develop and revise clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring that educational activities align with organizational goals and enhance patient safety and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of educational activities and participant attendance, preparing reports as required.
- Stay current with best practices, nursing trends, regulatory requirements, and advances in healthcare technology.
- Serve as a resource and consultant for clinical questions, patient care issues, and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Ontario (CNO).
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Education (MEd) with a focus on nursing education.
- Minimum 5 years of recent clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical education or staff development role.
- Demonstrated expertise in adult learning principles and educational methodologies.
- Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in developing engaging educational materials and utilizing e-learning platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) or a related specialty.
- Experience with simulation-based education.
- Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Experience in curriculum development and program evaluation.
