Hiring.zycto is excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Barista Cashier to join our team at a bustling coffee shop located within the iconic Ontario Science Centre. This part-time role is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a genuine passion for coffee, and love interacting with a diverse clientele, from curious children to adult science enthusiasts. As a Barista Cashier, you will be the face of our coffee shop, responsible for providing exceptional customer service, expertly preparing a variety of coffee and tea beverages, and accurately handling transactions. Your ability to create a welcoming and efficient atmosphere will be crucial to the visitor experience at this popular Toronto landmark.
Your day will involve more than just brewing coffee; it’s about crafting moments. You’ll greet every customer with a friendly smile, take orders with precision, and offer recommendations, ensuring each guest leaves with exactly what they desired and a reason to return. Mastery of our espresso machine and beverage recipes will be key, as will your commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the serving area. You will manage cash and card transactions, operate the point-of-sale system, and reconcile your till at the end of your shift, all while ensuring a smooth flow of service, even during peak hours. Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and provide recommendations.
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and other beverages to consistent quality standards.
- Operate cash register and POS system, handling cash and card transactions with accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, including coffee machines, grinders, and serving areas.
- Stock and restock inventory, including coffee beans, milk, pastries, and other supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to management.
- Adhere to all food safety and health regulations.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning, setup, and cash reconciliation.
- Resolve customer complaints and concerns politely and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.
Required Skills
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to handle cash and operate a POS system accurately.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and active listening.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Barista or Cashier in a coffee shop or food service setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Passion for coffee and learning new brewing methods.
