Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a motivated and reliable Carpentry Helper to join our dedicated construction team immediately. Based primarily at sites around the prestigious University of Toronto campus and other locations across Toronto, you will play a crucial role in supporting our skilled carpenters and construction crews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled carpenters with various tasks, including measuring, cutting, and shaping wood.
  • Prepare and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from work areas.
  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work sites to ensure a safe and organized environment.
  • Perform general labour duties such as demolition, site cleanup, and debris removal.
  • Help with the installation of framing, trim, cabinets, and other carpentry components.
  • Load and unload construction materials manually or using appropriate equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and protocols diligently at all times.
  • Learn and apply basic carpentry techniques under supervision.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently as directed.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety practices.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform demanding tasks.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
  • Reliable transportation to various job sites across Toronto.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (e.g., 6 months) in a construction or manual labour role.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program.
  • Valid G Class driver's license.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating other heavy machinery.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
