As a Carpenter Apprentice, you will be an integral part of our construction projects, assisting skilled journeymen with various tasks and learning the fundamental principles of the trade. Your journey will involve understanding different types of wood, construction materials, and the safe and efficient use of hand and power tools. You’ll gain practical experience in measuring, cutting, shaping, and installing building materials during the construction, renovation, or repair of various structures, from residential homes to commercial properties. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist journeyman carpenters with various tasks, including measuring, cutting, and shaping wood and other materials.
  • Learn to safely and proficiently use hand tools, power tools, and other carpentry equipment.
  • Prepare and clean work sites, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
  • Help with the installation of foundations, walls, roofs, floors, doors, windows, and other structural components.
  • Transport materials and assist with scaffolding and ladder setup.
  • Follow instructions and contribute actively to team discussions and problem-solving.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Continuously learn and apply new carpentry techniques and skills under supervision.

Required Skills

  • Strong willingness to learn and accept instruction.
  • Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Basic understanding of mathematics (measurements, fractions).
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to safety on the job site.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with basic hand tools (hammer, tape measure) is a plus but not required.
  • Completion of a basic construction safety course (e.g., Working at Heights, WHMIS) is an asset.
  • Valid G-class driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in the Toronto area.
