Key Responsibilities
- Observe and assist certified EKG Technicians in performing electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Learn proper patient preparation techniques, including skin preparation and lead placement, to ensure accurate EKG readings.
- Familiarize yourself with and operate EKG equipment and related medical devices under supervision.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Learn to accurately record and document patient information and EKG results.
- Understand and adhere to all patient privacy regulations (e.g., PHIPA in Ontario) and safety protocols.
- Participate actively in all training sessions and mentorship programs.
- Develop proficiency in identifying artifact and troubleshooting common technical issues.
- Maintain professional and empathetic communication with patients and colleagues.
