Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Superintendents in daily site operations and project coordination.
  • Monitor work progress, identify potential delays, and help ensure adherence to project schedules.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and clean work environment, actively learning and enforcing safety regulations and protocols.
  • Help coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and tradespeople as directed.
  • Assist in documenting site activities, progress reports, material deliveries, and any incidents.
  • Participate actively in site meetings, taking notes and contributing to problem-solving discussions.
  • Learn and apply quality control procedures and standards to ensure work meets project specifications.
  • Support the review of blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to understand project requirements.
  • Assist with material procurement processes, inventory management, and site logistics.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of various construction methods, techniques, and best practices, particularly within a heritage context.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles or related vocational training/experience.
  • Strong willingness to learn, a proactive attitude, and adaptability in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a vital part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Physical ability to perform duties on a construction site, which may include standing for extended periods, walking, climbing, and lifting.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or completion of a construction-related college program (e.g., Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology).
  • Previous exposure to a construction site environment, such as through a summer job, co-op placement, or volunteer work.
  • Familiarity with construction safety regulations and practices (e.g., Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act).
  • A genuine interest in heritage building preservation, restoration, or adaptive reuse projects.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software or project management tools.
