Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all facility operations, including maintenance, repairs, security, cleaning, and groundskeeping.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and optimal functioning of all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor service delivery to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop, manage, and adhere to the facilities budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and implement robust safety protocols and emergency response plans.
- Lead and mentor a small team of facilities staff or contractors, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Plan and coordinate office moves, space reconfigurations, and minor construction projects, minimizing disruption to operations.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
- Implement sustainable practices and initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of our facilities.
- Prepare regular reports on facility performance, maintenance activities, and budgetary adherence for senior management.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of progressive experience in facilities management.
- Proven experience in managing building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety).
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations (e.g., OHSA) and building codes.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
- Superior negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in facility management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as FMP (Facilities Management Professional) or CFM (Certified Facilities Manager).
