Key Responsibilities
- Assist journeypersons and other skilled tradespeople with the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC, and piping.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from work sites.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper storage and care of tools.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and provincial codes.
- Perform general labour tasks as required to support project completion.
- Actively participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction to develop trade skills and knowledge.
- Identify and report potential hazards or issues to supervisors.
- Operate hand and power tools under supervision, learning proper usage and safety precautions.
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn the skilled trades.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent work ethic and reliability.
- Basic understanding of safety practices in a construction or industrial setting.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a pre-apprenticeship program in a related trade (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, general mechanical).
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic experience with hand tools and power tools.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
