Key Responsibilities

  • Perform various diagnostic radiographic examinations, including but not limited to general X-ray and fluoroscopy procedures, according to established protocols.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process, explaining procedures clearly and addressing any concerns with empathy.
  • Position patients accurately for optimal image acquisition, utilizing appropriate immobilization techniques when necessary.
  • Operate and maintain advanced radiology equipment, performing daily quality control checks and troubleshooting minor issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all radiation safety regulations and protocols, including ALARA principles, to protect patients, staff, and yourself.
  • Review images for technical quality and diagnostic content, collaborating with radiologists to ensure accurate interpretations.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including procedure documentation, patient history, and consent forms.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and educational activities to stay current with advancements in radiology technology and best practices.
  • Assist with scheduling, patient preparation, and general departmental duties as required to maintain efficient operations.
  • Provide clear, concise post-procedure instructions to patients and their families.

Required Skills

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Certification by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Radiography.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent, practical experience as a Radiology Technologist in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency in performing a wide range of diagnostic X-ray and fluoroscopy procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of radiation safety principles and practices.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex procedures clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
  • Additional certification or experience in other imaging modalities (e.g., CT, MRI) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential or experience mentoring junior technologists.
  • Bilingualism (English and French or other common languages in Toronto) is an asset.
  • Experience in a high-volume diagnostic imaging center or hospital environment.
