Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including inspecting common areas, mechanical rooms, and exterior grounds.
- Conduct minor repairs to plumbing, electrical fixtures, carpentry, and general building structures under supervision.
- Assist senior maintenance technicians with larger repairs, installations, and renovation projects.
- Undertake general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, waste removal, and maintaining cleanliness of building entrances and hallways.
- Respond to tenant maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Monitor building systems and equipment for proper functioning and report any malfunctions or defects.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Assist with groundskeeping tasks such as snow removal, salting pathways, and basic landscaping as seasonally required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, supplies, and equipment usage.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn and take direction effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a general labour or maintenance-related role (even part-time or volunteer)
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record
- Basic computer proficiency for work order systems
- First Aid and CPR certification
