Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Responders – Medical to join our dedicated team serving the vibrant community of Little India, Toronto. This pivotal role involves providing immediate, life-saving medical care to individuals in emergency situations, often under high-pressure circumstances. As an Emergency Responder, you will be the first point of contact for patients experiencing acute medical conditions, trauma, or other urgent health crises. Your daily responsibilities will span from rapid assessment and stabilization of patients at the scene, to administering pre-hospital treatment, and safe transportation to appropriate medical facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and safely to emergency calls, assessing scenes for hazards and ensuring personal and team safety.
- Perform rapid patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms, to determine appropriate care.
- Administer emergency medical treatment, including CPR, wound care, medication administration, splinting, and airway management.
- Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment, such as defibrillators, oxygen delivery systems, and stretchers.
- Document patient findings, treatments provided, and transport details accurately and efficiently according to protocol.
- Safely transport patients to medical facilities, providing continuous monitoring and care en route.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical professionals, and other emergency services personnel.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, empathy, and respect in all interactions.
- Participate in ongoing training, drills, and continuing education to maintain and enhance medical knowledge and skills.
- Ensure ambulances and equipment are fully stocked, clean, and in good working order at all times.
Required Skills
- Current Paramedic (PCP) or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification in Ontario.
- Valid Class F driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an emergency medical services setting.
- Proficiency in basic and advanced life support techniques.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards patients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism (English and a South Asian language pertinent to Little India, such as Hindi, Punjabi, or Bengali).
- Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) certification.
- Experience with diverse patient populations and cultural sensitivities.
- Previous experience working in an urban emergency response setting.
- Additional certifications in specialized trauma or medical care.
