Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Layout Artist with a strong focus on print production to join our vibrant team in Harbord Village, Toronto. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in translating creative concepts into visually compelling and print-ready layouts across a variety of projects, including brochures, magazines, advertisements, packaging, and other marketing collateral. Your expertise will ensure that every design adheres to brand guidelines, maintains aesthetic integrity, and meets the highest standards of print production.

As a Layout Artist, you will work closely with our graphic designers, art directors, and project managers, taking raw content and design elements and expertly arranging them into cohesive and effective print materials. This involves a deep understanding of typography, color theory, composition, and the technical specifications required for various printing processes. You’ll be the guardian of our final output, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and a flawless finish. We are looking for someone who is not only proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, but also possesses a keen eye for detail, a proactive problem-solving approach, and a passion for bringing designs to life in the physical realm. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute print-ready layouts for a diverse range of materials, including brochures, magazines, flyers, posters, and packaging.
  • Ensure all layouts adhere strictly to brand guidelines, client specifications, and pre-press requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with graphic designers, art directors, and copywriters to integrate content and visual elements effectively.
  • Perform meticulous proofreading and quality checks to identify and correct errors in typography, grammar, spacing, and image placement.
  • Prepare, optimize, and pre-flight final files for various print production methods, ensuring color accuracy and resolution.
  • Manage and organize project files and assets efficiently within our digital asset management system.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices in print design and production.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Layout Artist or similar role, specifically in print.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout principles, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
  • In-depth knowledge of print production processes, pre-press, and file preparation for commercial printing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics and consistency.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a creative team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • Experience with packaging design and dielines.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management (DAM) systems.
  • A strong online portfolio showcasing a range of print layout projects.
