Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Information Manager to lead our Health Information Management (HIM) department in Germantown, Louisville. This pivotal full-time role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of healthcare data management, compliance regulations, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor the Health Information Management (HIM) department staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Oversee the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of patient health records, both paper and electronic, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HIM policies and procedures, ensuring they align with organizational goals and evolving healthcare regulations.
  • Manage the release of information process, ensuring timely and compliant disclosure of protected health information.
  • Monitor and evaluate HIM departmental performance, implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and data quality.
  • Collaborate with clinical, IT, and administrative departments to optimize EHR utilization and integration.
  • Ensure accurate and timely medical coding (e.g., ICD-10, CPT) and documentation practices to support billing, quality reporting, and research initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of changes in health information technology, regulations, and industry best practices to inform strategic planning and departmental initiatives.
  • Prepare and manage the HIM department budget, optimizing resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity, privacy, and security standards are met.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience in Health Information Management within a healthcare setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, state, and federal regulations pertaining to patient information management.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and health information technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in medical coding principles (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT) and documentation requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
  • Experience with Epic or Cerner EHR systems.
  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools in a healthcare context.
  • Knowledge of health information exchange (HIE) frameworks and interoperability standards.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
