Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our vibrant team in Newport, Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be instrumental in managing the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, company policies, and best practices. You will be responsible for processing weekly and monthly payrolls, handling new starters and leavers, managing statutory deductions, and responding to employee queries with professionalism and empathy. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process end-to-end weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time for a diverse workforce.
  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations, statutory requirements (PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.), and internal policies.
  • Process new starters, leavers, contractual changes, and other employee-related data accurately within the payroll system.
  • Calculate and process statutory and voluntary deductions, including pensions, student loans, and other benefits.
  • Handle and resolve payroll queries from employees and external bodies efficiently and professionally.
  • Prepare and submit P45s, P60s, and other required payroll reports.
  • Reconcile payroll data, ensuring accuracy and identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless information flow and data integrity.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and recommend necessary procedural changes.
  • Assist with year-end payroll procedures and audits.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC compliance.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, Xero, BrightPay) and MS Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPP qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience with an integrated HR/payroll system.
  • Knowledge of pension auto-enrolment processes.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with complex payroll structures.
