Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file corporate tax returns, VAT returns, and other statutory tax filings in compliance with UK and Northern Ireland tax legislation.
- Conduct detailed tax research and analysis on complex tax issues, providing clear recommendations to management and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with tax audits, enquiries, and other communications from tax authorities, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Reconcile tax accounts and ensure accuracy of tax-related general ledger entries during month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support the finance team in calculating tax provisions and deferred tax liabilities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of tax reporting procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with finance, legal, and other departments to gather necessary information and provide expert tax guidance.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, assessing their potential impact on the company’s operations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in a tax-focused role, either within a public accounting firm or an industry setting.
- Solid understanding of UK and Northern Ireland tax principles, including Corporate Tax and VAT.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and experience with accounting software.
- Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high levels of accuracy in all tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex tax concepts clearly to various audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Part-qualified or fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CTA, or an equivalent professional tax qualification.
- Experience with specific tax compliance software (e.g., Alphatax, Sage Tax).
- Previous experience working within a multinational company or with complex group structures.
- Knowledge of R&D tax credits, capital allowances, or other specific tax incentives.
