Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage geotechnical site investigations, including planning, supervision, and interpretation of factual data.
- Perform comprehensive geotechnical analyses and design for foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and earthworks.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, specifications, and technical notes, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Utilize geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, Oasys, Wallap) for advanced numerical modelling and design verification.
- Provide expert geotechnical advice and support to internal project teams and external clients.
- Ensure all designs and analyses comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and industry best practices.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers, fostering their technical development and growth.
- Participate in client meetings, present findings, and contribute to business development activities.
- Conduct site inspections during construction to monitor compliance with design specifications and address any geotechnical issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in geotechnical site investigation, interpretation, and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of soil mechanics and foundation engineering principles.
- Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS 2D/3D, Oasys suite, Wallap).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client interaction.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE).
- Experience with ground improvement techniques and advanced numerical modelling.
- A Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience working on projects within the UK or Ireland.
