Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Pension Administrator to join our growing team in Sapperton, New Westminster. This full-time, on-site role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional passionate about ensuring the accurate and timely administration of various pension plans. As a Pension Administrator, you will be instrumental in supporting our clients’ employees through their retirement journey, handling everything from enrollment to benefit calculations and member communications.

In this crucial position, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) pension plans. This includes processing member data, calculating benefits, coordinating with trustees and actuaries, and ensuring strict adherence to pension legislation and plan provisions. Key Responsibilities

  • Process new enrollments, terminations, retirements, and other member-related transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Calculate and verify pension benefits for various events, including retirements, disabilities, and deaths, ensuring compliance with plan text and legislation.
  • Respond to pension plan member inquiries regarding plan provisions, entitlements, and options, providing clear and concise information with empathy.
  • Maintain meticulous member records and plan data, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy.
  • Prepare and reconcile periodic and annual reports for clients, trustees, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist with annual audits and year-end processes, including data collection, reconciliation, and verification.
  • Stay updated on relevant Canadian pension legislation, regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., BC Pension Benefits Standards Act).
  • Coordinate effectively with actuaries, legal counsel, and other third-party administrators as required.
  • Draft clear, professional, and compliant communications to plan members and clients.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall service delivery in pension administration.

Required Skills

  • 2-3 years of direct experience in pension administration (Defined Benefit and/or Defined Contribution plans).
  • Strong understanding of Canadian pension legislation and regulations, particularly in British Columbia.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, calculations, and record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (intermediate to advanced level) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, organize workload effectively, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to resolve complex pension-related issues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Completion of or enrollment in industry-recognized courses (e.g., CEBS, PPAC).
  • Experience with specific pension administration software platforms.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a valuable asset.
  • Experience in client-facing roles within a professional services or consulting environment.
