Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and testing of automotive components, systems, and full vehicle architectures.
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis, simulations (FEA, CFD), and calculations to validate designs.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery of projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and sales to ensure seamless integration and launch.
- Develop and implement robust testing protocols (DVPR, PVPR) to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Analyze test data, identify root causes of failures, and propose corrective actions and design improvements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies (EV, autonomous), and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in automotive engineering design and development.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and CAE tools.
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, powertrain systems, chassis, body, and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and leading engineering initiatives.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with electric vehicle (EV) or autonomous driving system development.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO/TS 16949, SAE, FMVSS).
- P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration in Ontario.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or other simulation tools.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
