Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Full-Time System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team in Capilano, North Vancouver. This pivotal role involves managing, maintaining, and enhancing our critical IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability across all systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain server infrastructure, including Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
  • Oversee network components such as routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring robust network security and performance.
  • Administer virtualized environments using platforms like VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Implement, manage, and optimize cloud-based solutions across platforms like Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure high availability of all IT services.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support to end-users, resolving complex IT problems efficiently.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures comprehensively and keep them up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff and departments to plan and execute technology projects.

Required Skills

  • Proven hands-on experience with Windows Server and various Linux distributions.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Demonstrated experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Bash for automation.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy management, and identity access management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., MCSA, CCNA, CompTIA Server+, Azure Administrator Associate).
  • Experience with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks, particularly ITIL.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or similar solutions.
