Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Logger – Heavy Equipment to join our dedicated team working on the transformative East Bayfront Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Toronto. This pivotal role involves operating a range of heavy machinery with precision and expertise to facilitate crucial site preparation, material handling, and environmental management tasks essential for the successful completion of this landmark infrastructure development.

As a Logger – Heavy Equipment, you will be instrumental in the initial stages of construction, engaging in activities such as land clearing, debris removal, excavation support, and precise material placement. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, feller bunchers, skidders, and other logging machinery, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct site preparation activities, including land clearing, brush removal, and debris management, in accordance with project specifications and environmental guidelines.
  • Perform routine pre-operational checks and preventative maintenance on equipment, reporting any malfunctions or necessary repairs promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and provincial legislation (e.g., OHSA) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members, supervisors, and contractors to ensure smooth project progression and communication.
  • Load, unload, and transport materials (e.g., timber, soil, aggregate) as required for construction and disposal.
  • Maintain accurate logs of work performed, equipment usage, and materials processed.
  • Assist with manual labour tasks when heavy equipment is not required or feasible.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, specifically with logging or related construction machinery.
  • Valid heavy equipment operator certifications (e.g., Ontario Certificates of Qualification or equivalent for relevant machinery).
  • Thorough understanding of heavy equipment operation, safety procedures, and site hazard identification.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for minor equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grading stakes.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions and demanding outdoor environments.
  • Valid G-Class driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in urban or waterfront settings.
  • Additional certifications for specialized logging equipment or advanced safety training.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of environmental protection practices related to forestry and construction.
