Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Garden Designers in all phases of landscape design projects, from concept to completion.
- Conduct site analyses, measurements, and photographic documentation for various projects.
- Develop conceptual designs, sketches, and mood boards that align with client vision and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed landscape plans, planting plans, and construction drawings using CAD software.
- Research and select appropriate plant materials, hardscape elements, and site furnishings, considering climate, aesthetics, and sustainability.
- Assist in preparing professional client presentations and project proposals.
- Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project progression.
- Maintain organized project files, documentation, and material libraries.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and sustainable design practices.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of landscape design principles and practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Strong creative and visual communication skills, including sketching and rendering.
- Foundational understanding of horticulture and plant identification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A portfolio showcasing design projects (academic or personal).
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Previous internship or entry-level experience in a landscape design firm.
- Familiarity with local Calgary and Alberta plant palettes and climate considerations.
- Experience with 3D rendering software (e.g., SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape).
