Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and diligent Site Inspector for an immediate start in Birmingham, England. This is a critical full-time role for a professional dedicated to upholding the highest standards of construction quality and regulatory compliance across our dynamic portfolio of projects. As a Site Inspector, you will be the eyes and ears on the ground, ensuring that all works, materials, and procedures strictly adhere to approved designs, specifications, building regulations, and health and safety protocols. Your expert observations and reporting will be instrumental in identifying potential issues early, mitigating risks, and maintaining project timelines and budgets. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular on-site inspections of construction works at various stages of completion.
- Verify materials, workmanship, and construction methods against approved drawings, specifications, British Standards, and Building Regulations.
- Identify and document any non-conformities, defects, or deviations from plans, issuing site instructions and corrective actions as required.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, engineers, and architects to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance.
- Maintain comprehensive inspection records, daily site reports, photographic evidence, and progress reports.
- Monitor health and safety practices on site, reporting any breaches or unsafe conditions.
- Participate in site meetings and walk-throughs, providing expert input on quality and compliance matters.
- Perform final inspections and snagging lists prior to project handover.
- Ensure accurate measurement and payment certification for works completed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Site Inspector, Clerk of Works, or similar role in the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of British Building Regulations, relevant British Standards, and construction best practices.
- Strong understanding of various construction materials, methods, and technologies.
- Excellent observation and analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple sites.
- Proficiency in using site inspection software and standard office applications.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., ICWCI, CIOB).
- CSCS card.
- Experience with various types of construction projects (e.g., residential, commercial, infrastructure).
- Knowledge of environmental regulations in construction.
