Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and evidence-based nursing care to patients under the supervision of senior nursing staff.
  • Assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, adhering to prescribed dosages and hospital policies.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient conditions, and report findings to the nursing team.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with doctors, allied health professionals, and other healthcare staff to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and professional standards of practice.
  • Participate in ward meetings, handovers, and continuous professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the UK (or awaiting PIN upon qualification).
  • Completed a recognised Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent observational and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Basic IT literacy for electronic patient record management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous clinical placement experience in diverse healthcare settings (e.g., medical, surgical, community).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of current healthcare legislation and policies relevant to nursing practice in Scotland.
