Hiring.zycto is currently seeking enthusiastic and hardworking Entry-Level Construction Laborers to join our dynamic team in the Marda Loop area of Calgary. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks on construction sites.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment safely.
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning debris, setting up barricades, and organizing tools.
- Perform general site cleanup and maintenance to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of scaffolding, temporary structures, and work zones.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies rigorously to maintain a secure workplace.
- Communicate effectively with team members and site supervisors.
- Learn and apply new construction techniques and best practices as guided by experienced staff.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Basic understanding of safety practices (or willingness to learn immediately).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Previous experience working in an outdoor or physically demanding role.
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certification (or willingness to obtain it within the first month).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
