Job Description

As Director, you will oversee the entire spectrum of curriculum design and revision processes, meticulously ensuring alignment with national and provincial accreditation standards, as well as evolving industry best practices in nursing. You will be instrumental in faculty recruitment, orientation, professional development, and performance evaluation, promoting teaching excellence and fostering a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative academic community. Furthermore, this position involves strategic resource management, diligent budget oversight, and the proactive development of strong community and healthcare institution partnerships to expand diverse clinical placement opportunities, foster research collaborations, and enhance community health initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all academic nursing programs, ensuring excellence and innovation.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing curricula, aligning with accreditation standards and industry trends.
  • Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and provide professional development opportunities for nursing faculty.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements for nursing education programs.
  • Manage program budgets, resources, and facilities effectively.
  • Foster strong relationships with clinical partners to secure high-quality student placements.
  • Promote and support faculty scholarly activities, research, and evidence-based practice.
  • Lead program reviews and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Advise students on academic progression, professional development, and career pathways.
  • Represent the institution in professional organizations and community initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Doctorate in Nursing (PhD, DNP, EdD) or a closely related field.
  • Current unencumbered registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario (or eligible for registration).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in nursing, with at least 5 years in an academic leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, program evaluation, and pedagogical innovation.
  • Strong understanding of nursing accreditation standards (e.g., CASN).
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire faculty and staff.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and learning management systems.
  • Strategic planning and budget management experience.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with interprofessional education models.
  • Track record of successful grant writing or research funding.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals related to nursing education or practice.
  • Experience with simulation-based learning and virtual reality in education.
