Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding during night hours.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately document all observations.
- Help patients with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices as needed.
- Respond to call bells promptly and provide immediate assistance or notify nursing staff as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, including changing bed linens and tidying patient rooms.
- Assist with patient ambulation and exercises as directed by the nursing or therapy team.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients, especially those who may experience anxiety or discomfort during the night.
- Document patient care activities, observations, and vital signs accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate effectively with Registered Nurses and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including infection control guidelines.
Required Skills
- Successful completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program or equivalent Nursing Assistant certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nursing Assistant or PSW, preferably in a long-term care or hospital setting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working night shifts in a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems.
