Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Officer to join our client’s team in Paddington, London. This critical full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to champion a culture of safety, ensuring a secure and compliant working environment for all employees. As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a strong safety-first mindset across the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and review comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Organize and deliver effective health and safety training programs for all employees, ensuring compliance and awareness.
- Ensure strict adherence to all UK health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of all health and safety activities, incidents, and training.
- Advise management on health and safety matters, providing expert guidance and support.
- Liaise with external bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) when required.
Required Skills
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in a commercial environment.
- Thorough knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct effective risk assessments and implement control measures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at Graduate or Chartered level.
- Experience in environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
- First Aid at Work certification.
