Key Responsibilities
- Develop, analyze, and implement comprehensive reservoir management strategies to maximize hydrocarbon recovery and economic value.
- Design and optimize well completions, artificial lift systems (e.g., ESP, gas lift, rod pump), and various stimulation treatments.
- Conduct detailed production surveillance, performance analysis, and data interpretation to identify and troubleshoot production problems.
- Perform robust economic evaluations, risk assessments, and sensitivity analyses for new drilling, workover, and intervention projects.
- Utilize advanced reservoir simulation software to accurately model fluid flow, forecast production, and evaluate different development scenarios.
- Collaborate effectively with drilling, completions, operations, and geoscience teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of field activities.
- Monitor and meticulously analyze well performance data, proactively identifying and resolving operational bottlenecks and production inefficiencies.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, compelling presentations, and strategic recommendations for various stakeholders and management.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and rigorous health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Stay continuously informed about emerging technologies, industry best practices, and innovative solutions in the field of petroleum engineering.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in petroleum engineering roles within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong foundational and practical understanding of reservoir engineering principles, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
- Proven experience with production optimization techniques, well interventions, and artificial lift systems.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using industry-standard software (e.g., Petrel, IPM Suite, Eclipse, OFM, Prosper/GAP).
- Comprehensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations prevalent in the oil and gas sector.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada or active eligibility for immediate registration.
- Experience with unconventional resource development (e.g., heavy oil, tight oil/gas, shale plays).
- Familiarity with economic evaluation software (e.g., ARIES, Merak, Val Nav).
- Prior experience working on projects within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB).
