Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all aspects of the provided excavator operator training program.
- Learn and demonstrate safe operation of various excavator models (e.g., hydraulic excavators, mini-excavators).
- Assist in pre-operational checks and routine maintenance of equipment.
- Execute digging, trenching, backfilling, grading, and demolition tasks under supervision and independently once certified.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, company policies, and provincial guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, co-workers, and other team members.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
- Develop proficiency in reading and interpreting site plans and grade stakes.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Fluency in English (working knowledge of French is an asset).
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a construction-related labourer role.
- Basic knowledge of construction site operations.
