Job Description
Embark on an incredible journey as an Au Pair with a loving family in scenic Whitney Park, Bangor, Maine! We are seeking a compassionate, responsible, and enthusiastic individual to become an integral part of a welcoming family. As an Au Pair, you’ll be more than just a caregiver; you’ll be a big brother or sister, a cultural ambassador, and a new family member. This is a full-time live-in position, where you’ll receive free room and board, a weekly stipend, and comprehensive support throughout your stay. Key Responsibilities
- Provide reliable and engaging childcare for children, including daily routines, play, and educational activities.
- Prepare simple, healthy meals and snacks for children.
- Assist children with schoolwork and homework as needed.
- Drive children to and from school, activities, and appointments (if a valid driver's license is held).
- Perform light household tasks related to the children, such as tidying up play areas, children's laundry, and keeping their rooms organized.
- Actively participate in family life and cultural exchange, sharing your own culture and learning about American customs.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
- Maintain open and clear communication with host parents regarding children's activities and any concerns.
Required Skills
- Minimum 12 months of verifiable childcare experience (e.g., babysitting, nannying, camp counselor, teaching assistant).
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) to communicate effectively with the family and children.
- Valid driver's license (or willingness to obtain one upon arrival) for transport duties, preferred but not always mandatory depending on family needs.
- Non-smoker.
- Enthusiastic, responsible, and mature demeanor.
- Adaptability and an open mind towards different cultures and lifestyles.
- Ability to commit to a 12-month program in the USA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ages 18-26 (specific age requirements vary by visa program regulations).
- Completion of secondary education.
- Experience with children of various age groups.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
