As a Police Officer, you will be on the front lines, ensuring public safety and maintaining peace within the vibrant community of Downtown Auburn. Key Responsibilities

  • Complete and successfully pass all phases of the paid police academy training program.
  • Patrol designated areas on foot, bicycle, or by vehicle to prevent crime and enforce laws.
  • Respond to emergency calls and non-emergency requests for service.
  • Investigate criminal activity, collect evidence, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Apprehend and arrest suspects, following proper legal procedures.
  • Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects in various situations.
  • Enforce traffic laws, conduct accident investigations, and direct traffic.
  • Engage with community members to build rapport and address local concerns.
  • Administer first aid and provide assistance to individuals in distress.
  • Testify in court as required regarding incidents and investigations.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment
  • United States Citizenship
  • Valid Driver's License and good driving record
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, and physical fitness test
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong moral character and integrity
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure
  • Physical fitness and ability to meet demanding physical requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field
  • Prior military service with an honorable discharge
  • Experience in community service or volunteer work
  • Fluency in multiple languages
