Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises, inside and out, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, secure doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and other security systems; investigate any unusual activity or alerts.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, and security breaches, following established protocols.
- Control access to the facility, verifying credentials, logging visitors, and ensuring only authorized personnel enter restricted areas.
- Document all security-related incidents, observations, and activities accurately and thoroughly in daily logs and incident reports.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to safety and security, ensuring compliance by all personnel and visitors.
- Provide assistance to employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, offering directions or support as needed.
- Conduct initial investigations into security incidents, gathering evidence and coordinating with law enforcement when necessary.
- Maintain a visible presence to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe working environment.
- Operate and maintain security equipment in good working order, reporting any malfunctions or damage.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar role.
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
- Ability to operate CCTV and alarm systems.
- Proficient in writing clear and concise reports.
- Valid State Security Guard License (or ability to obtain one immediately).
- First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk extensively, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
- Previous experience in a corporate or industrial security setting.
- Advanced certifications in security, such as ASP, PSP, or equivalent.
- Experience with access control systems and visitor management software.
- Military or law enforcement background.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for report generation.
