Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Preconstruction Manager Trainee to join our dynamic team in Killarney, Vancouver. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior Preconstruction Managers with quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and budget development for various project phases.
  • Support the preparation of comprehensive bid packages, including scope documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct research on material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
  • Participate in project scope reviews, constructability analyses, and value engineering discussions.
  • Help maintain and update a database of historical cost data and market trends.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and vendors to gather necessary information for pricing and scheduling.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements and site conditions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules and timelines during the preconstruction phase.
  • Contribute to the review and analysis of subcontractor and vendor proposals.
  • Learn and utilize industry-standard estimating and project management software.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and terminology.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Prior internship or entry-level experience in construction or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in British Columbia.
  • PMP or other industry certifications in progress.
