You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating licensing terms, maintaining accurate rights management databases, and tracking royalty payments to ensure fair compensation for our artists. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process music licensing requests across various media, ensuring all necessary rights are cleared.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements (e.g., synchronization, mechanical, master use, public performance) with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure strict compliance with copyright laws, contractual agreements, and company policies.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive rights management databases, accurately documenting ownership, rights, and licensing terms.
  • Track and reconcile royalty statements, ensuring timely and accurate payments to rights holders.
  • Conduct thorough research into copyright ownership and chain of title for musical works.
  • Liaise effectively with artists, publishers, record labels, legal counsel, and external partners regarding licensing inquiries and disputes.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on copyright and licensing matters.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of best practices for rights management and intellectual property protection.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in music licensing, copyright administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. and international copyright law pertaining to music.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with rights management software and database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or Paralegal certificate.
  • Experience with specific music industry databases (e.g., BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, SoundExchange).
  • Knowledge of digital rights management (DRM) technologies and digital distribution.
  • Familiarity with international licensing practices and agreements.
