Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly analytical and motivated Carbon Credit Analyst to join our pioneering team. This is a fully remote opportunity, allowing you to contribute to critical environmental initiatives from anywhere in Canada. As a Carbon Credit Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in researching, analyzing, and reporting on carbon markets, offset projects, and regulatory frameworks. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of global and regional carbon markets, including pricing trends, supply-demand dynamics, and regulatory changes.
- Evaluate potential carbon credit projects for eligibility, additionality, and permanence, ensuring alignment with recognized standards (e.g., VCS, Gold Standard, CAR).
- Perform quantitative analysis and modeling to assess the financial viability and environmental impact of carbon reduction initiatives.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive databases of carbon credit projects, market data, and regulatory information.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and briefings for internal stakeholders and external partners, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Monitor policy developments and regulatory updates related to carbon emissions, climate change, and environmental markets.
- Assist in the due diligence process for carbon credit transactions, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and legal teams to support the verification and registration of carbon projects.
- Contribute to the development of internal methodologies and best practices for carbon credit analysis and portfolio management.
- Provide strategic recommendations on carbon credit acquisition, divestment, and risk management strategies.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python).
- In-depth understanding of carbon accounting principles, GHG emissions inventories, and international carbon market mechanisms.
- Excellent research, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and technical reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Familiarity with voluntary and compliance carbon markets (e.g., EU ETS, California Cap-and-Trade, CORSIA).
- Experience with carbon project development and verification processes.
- Knowledge of life cycle assessment (LCA) or environmental impact assessment (EIA).
- Certification in GHG accounting or carbon management.
