As a Veterinary Nurse, you will be at the heart of daily operations, providing vital support to the veterinary surgeons and delivering exceptional care to a diverse range of small animal patients. Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting veterinary surgeons in consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
  • Administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments under veterinary direction.
  • Monitoring anaesthesia and providing perioperative patient care.
  • Performing diagnostic imaging (radiography, ultrasound) and laboratory work.
  • Managing nurse clinics, including weight management, dental checks, and senior pet care.
  • Providing compassionate inpatient care, including feeding, exercising, and monitoring.
  • Educating pet owners on preventative healthcare, nutrition, and post-operative care.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring clinical hygiene standards are met.
  • Assisting with inventory management and clinic upkeep.

Required Skills

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) status with the RCVS.
  • Proven experience working in a small animal practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in anaesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient and client care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Further qualifications or certificates in specific areas (e.g., ECC, dentistry, behaviour).
  • Experience with specific veterinary software systems.
  • Knowledge of Fear Free practices.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff or student nurses.
