Job Description

Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for an exceptional Retail District Manager to lead our operations across multiple store locations within the Sandy Hill, Ottawa district. This pivotal role demands a visionary leader capable of driving both strategic growth and operational excellence. As a District Manager, you will be the cornerstone of our regional success, responsible for overseeing all facets of store performance, from financial profitability and sales targets to team development and customer satisfaction. You will be instrumental in translating company-wide goals into actionable strategies for your assigned stores, ensuring consistency in brand standards, visual merchandising, and service delivery.

Your primary mission will be to cultivate a high-performance culture by coaching, mentoring, and developing store managers and their teams. This includes setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and implementing effective performance management strategies to maximize individual and collective potential. You will analyze market trends, competitor activities, and sales data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth, adjusting strategies as needed to meet and exceed business objectives. The successful candidate will possess a strong financial acumen, capable of managing P&L statements, controlling expenses, and optimizing inventory levels across multiple units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve sales, profitability, and operational goals across all assigned retail locations.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and performance-manage Store Managers and their teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee P&L management for the district, including budgeting, forecasting, expense control, and inventory optimization to maximize financial results.
  • Ensure consistent execution of company standards in visual merchandising, customer service, store operations, and loss prevention.
  • Conduct regular store visits, audits, and performance reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions and identify growth opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives for employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning within the district.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of local market conditions and customer demographics to tailor store strategies effectively.
  • Act as a liaison between corporate leadership and store teams, ensuring effective communication and implementation of company policies and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and local, provincial, and federal regulations.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in retail management, with at least 3-5 years in a multi-unit management role (District Manager or equivalent).
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales, profit, and operational targets.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Strong business acumen with extensive experience in P&L management, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and manage diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in retail operating systems and standard office software (MS Office Suite).
  • Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to travel regularly within the designated district.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
  • Familiarity with the specific retail landscape and consumer base of the Ottawa region.
