Job Description

Hiring.zycto is searching for an experienced and dynamic Dispensary Manager to lead our operations in Vanier, Ottawa. This pivotal full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee all facets of a thriving cannabis retail environment, ensuring exceptional customer service, strict adherence to provincial regulations, and the overall success of the dispensary. As Dispensary Manager, you will be the driving force behind our store’s performance, cultivating a positive and professional atmosphere for both our team members and our valued customers. You will be responsible for upholding our brand’s unwavering commitment to product quality, consumer education, and stringent compliance in every interaction and operational process, from the moment a customer steps in, to their safe and informed departure.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the evolving cannabis retail landscape, coupled with proven leadership abilities to inspire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of budtenders and support staff. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing efficient standard operating procedures (SOPs) that ensure seamless daily operations, from opening to closing. This includes meticulous inventory management utilizing seed-to-sale tracking systems, ensuring all product handling, storage, and sales conform rigorously to OCS (Ontario Cannabis Store) and AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) guidelines. Beyond compliance, you will play a crucial role in curating our product selection, analyzing sales data to identify trends, and implementing strategies to meet and exceed sales targets.

This role requires a proactive and resourceful individual who can effectively train and develop staff, empowering them with comprehensive product knowledge and superior customer service skills. You will adeptly resolve customer inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy, ensuring a consistently positive experience. Maintaining a visually appealing, secure, and fully compliant retail space will also be a key daily responsibility. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all daily dispensary operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and sales reconciliation.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all provincial (OCS, AGCO) and federal cannabis regulations, maintaining meticulous records.
  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of budtenders and support staff, fostering a positive, knowledgeable, and customer-focused environment.
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and tracking products using seed-to-sale software.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets through effective product merchandising, staff training, and promotional strategies.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and visually appealing retail space.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage scheduling to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Stay informed about new cannabis products, industry trends, and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of retail management experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and POS systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret sales data and implement strategies for growth.
  • Must be 19 years of age or older (Ontario requirement).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the regulated cannabis industry (dispensary, licensed producer).
  • Post-secondary education in business administration, retail management, or a related field.
  • CannSell certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
  • Familiarity with compliance software and seed-to-sale tracking systems specific to cannabis.
